Children Christmas Party

This is absolutely the cutest kid. Lou, you've got some amazing genes hidden inside. Took a picture of her last year and boy that was my favorite children photo and it made its way into several publications inside the NAB without surprise. xoxo

Thank you very much Lou for letting me take pics of her again. The pleasure is all mine! Sorry, didn't ask you if it is ok to give her a box of chocolate. Hope you are cool with that.

Couldn't get this tiger to roar, flashing all his claws and teeths... He and his brother were too absorbed playing on the computers. What do I do? Here is an idea. Lets go for the other extreme... a sleeping tiger! Thought it looked really nice and I hope you enjoy it. The face painter did a really good job. Love how the colours on the face matching his hair, and his top. It crossed my mind to have my face painted also seeing such good work... but this photographer is too shy.

Just look at how cute this kid vampire is!! For a vampire this cute, may be you would be willing to donate some blood voluntarily. :O

I was required to print photos of children with santa using the office laser printer and laminate them. Shame that the printer quality is terrible. Everything came out green even after we spent good deal of time trying to calibrate it... We should print them properly at a lab next time. Thanks very much David for helping. Couldn't have run them off as quickly as we did without your help.

Boat Race

Hee hee, this is another post from the Fairfield Boathouse posted earlier here where we had one of our Christmas party. Thought I would post them because they look soooo funny (and we did have so much fun). We sure don't look like we know what we are doing or where the boats should be headed. Thank God we are much better at our job than rowing boats.

I have photographic evidence that there was deliberate slashing onto opposing teams.... especially on Dora. Looks dangerous. Law suit! Law suit! :)

More Christmas Parties

You have met this gentleman, Eric, before if you follow this blog. He is not pretending he is the chef. This man CAN cook like I have said before here. Not sure whether it is Eric or his sunnies, that made him look sooooo coool. Those Oakleys are wonderful! Didn't know you can make prescription lens for curved frames. I need to work hard and save money for a pair. $$$

Here, Esther is wearing the same sunnies. She looks real cool also and you can practically see everything on the stove - the satay and honey soy chicken wings, corn cobs and the lid we brought in a bid to help make sure the meat are well cooked without getting too burnt. I wish we brought a lid for ourselves also so won't have gotten sun burnt. The weather was amazingly good that day at Jells Park. After a cool, wet week, so many people rocked up for a barbie.

It is worth noting that these two good looking subjects were not posing for the camera. Must be those Oakleys! No, I don't get commission from Oakleys. :)

We also celebrated Andrew and Esther's birthday. Happy birthday Esther and Andrew. Andrew, hope you have a great holiday in Tassie. Almost missed this shot. The firework on the cake certainly goes fast and doesn't wait for anyone. They were nice cheese cakes from the Cheesecake Shop.

After a very full lunch, we went to see the lake. The lake was very murky, not sure if it is always like that. There were swarns, ducks and so on.

A dog was having lots of fun chasing ducks in the lake. Not sure if the ducks appreciated all the attention though. A translator told me this duck was screaming, "Get me out of the water, get me out of the water!" Not sure whether it was asking the right person though... it could end up on the dinning table. :P

Merry Christmas

Christmas has finally arrived! Happy Birthday Lord Jesus! Merry Christmas everyone. Wish you a joyous Christmas and a blessed new year.

Sorry, been working hard on the new project, StarBank R2 so there is no updates until now... on Christmas day itself... :P Anyway, I will try and share a few more pics taken lately.

First one is from NAB Technology Christmas party at the Telstra Dome. I already posted some just before but couldn't resist to post these two lovely santas as well.

Taken at the team Christmas lunch... No, we didn't just have beer for lunch. We had Pure Blonde, Stella, Hahn and Cascade. I prefer Pure Blonde, Cascade is great as well. Lots of chicken pieces from Nados (yummy and I wiped the grease off on the camera hand-grip), salads (sorry, I didn't try any), pizzas from Pepperoni's, chips (from Nandos as well), Krispy Kreme - they were called Kringle Kringle that day, wine and soft drinks.

Thank you Becky for organising the Kris Kringle with a twist. Actually, I wanted those little Japanese plates too.

Did you know that Kris Kringle is an Americanised pronunciation and spelling of Christkindl, which is Austrian or German for the Christ Child, who brought gifts to children on Christmas Eve. Christkindl is depicted as a child riding a mule and was believed to enter homes through keyholes. The presents must be very small...

To shed some of the calories we piled on over lunch, some of us went to... well, practically the front lawn of our building to play Bocce. Thank God they don't have crawls and sharp teeths. Agree John?

Xmas Party and All Teams Event

With a beer in one hand and camera in another. LOL. Drink moderately, stay sober and have a very Merry Christmas all. :)

Don't forget the true meaning of Xmas - our Lord God Jesus Christ came to us, fully human and yet without sin, brought the all important message to mankind, "Repent for the Kingdom of God is near." He loves us all. Ask Him to come into your life this Xmas and experience life that is truly life.

After a hectic couple of weeks and several photography engagements, finally I have a brief moment to catch my breath, reflect and share. Above is Xmas function at Telstra Dome and All Teams Event at the Crown below.

This is the Crown Palladium. Wasn't quite as colourful like the Logies night but it was fantastic regardless. It is the biggest pillarless ballroom in the country. Look at the very retro styled carpet and amazing lights.

Thank you very much Belinda and Amanda for organising my calendar and the subjects. You were great and we had fun, didn't we?! It was inspiring working with you Suzanne, hope I will work with you again soon. Thank you Kah Hoe, Lou, Melanie and David for helping as paparazzi. Hope you all had fun and picked up some new skills. I am really looking forward to the coffee on Monday to share our experience!

Water Gymnastics?

These were taken at the Fairfield Boathouse. A very pretty place indeed.

Look at how amazing the water glide over the feathers of this duck. Please don't mistake the little white "dots" in these pics for noise. They are actually water droplets!

Question: Was this duck bathing under the warm summer sun of Melbourne? Was it performing Swan Lake because it saw me with my camera? Perhaps, it was scared by me, by the big chunk of metal (camera) in my hands, and because I shouted at the top of my lungs "FREEEEZE!!!"

Answer: Nop, the right answer is: 龜~波~氣~功~ (Kamehameha wave) from Dragon Balls! LOL!

Looks like I am not the only one interested also. Look at the duck watching attentively on the right. Perhaps, it would be better to photoshop it out of the pics... But I find this spectator so funny! :D Perhaps, it was saying to the exhibitionist, "you're despicable." LOL! :D

龜...
波...
氣...
功!!!

Ballet School

Photographed for Mount Eliza and Peninsula Ballet School, MEPBS, for the second time. Great experience, lots of fun and I feel I have improved over the last 12 months - Results are better technically - sharper, more accurate white balance, better exposure, but I still know little what is a good technical pose.. need to do some homework for next time. This photographer is too lazy. :P All the costumes were so pretty, especially the blue ones! :)

Thank you very much John and Cathy for the opportunity. John, I admire your enthusiasm and dedication. Hope you'll master the lighting kit quickly and effectively. I have learnt heaps from you - what great work can be done with a 17-55mm kit lens and a skilled practitioner.

All, if you have a good link about how to hook up, trigger and use studio flash kit and umbrellas, please send me a comment. Really appreciate it. Thank you very much.

Self Portrait

Doing some private functions lately thanks to NAB and The Caprice School of Ballet. Well, I can't publish them here, I am afraid. However, I was asked to supply a photo of myself. Yep, that I can publish! But first, I must take a picture of myself and that's an interesting challenge for someone who prefers to hide behind the camera.. :P

Yes, my profile picture is not really me... I don't have big bug eyes, like those Jap manga characters do, but small little Chinese eyes. Doh! :o Anyway...

The set up is extremely simple and cheap. Just a desk lamp with a standard 60W incandescent light bulb from KMart as the key light. Check out the reflection in the sunnies, I wish it was a brolly or softbox. No reflector, no hair light, no backdrop, no fill light. The camera is mounted on a tripod. I don't have a remote shutter cable so timer was used instead. Look very closely, and you would see the sweat running down my face, as a result of the sprints.. -_-; Just kidding.

You can be excused thinking I am a Nikon fanboy because it is a Nikon FA with a Nikkor 50mm f/1.4. XXX

More flowers

I am fustrated! Couldn't quite get the colour of the rose pedals correctly with white balance. This is about the best I can do (so far). It is exactly the same flower as the ones here so you can tell my previous attempt was pretty mediocre. :(

So fustrated, I decided to shoot other flowers, even weeds! >_<
